How to add truckload and intermodal carrier
5 Minute Read
For truckload or intermodal carriers FreightPOP uses automated emails to communicate with carriers and within each email, a portal link is provided so the carrier can communicate via a special FreightPOP portal they get. To the user, the information in FreightPOP is all automated.
1. Go to Settings and Click Carrier Management.
2. Select the carrier you want based on the type of carrier they are.
*Note* Some carriers may be more than one carrier type and you may need to add them as each carrier type that they are.
*Note* If you do not see a carrier you use you can add them as a “User Defined Carrier.
Adding a “User Defined Carrier”
1. Click “Add” next to “User Defined Carrier”
2. Input the carrier’s Name and Account Nickname
3. Add the zip code you ship from
- This is what the system uses to know how to mark the BOL. Any shipment from this zip will be marked as Prepaid, any shipment to this zip code will be marked as Collect and any shipment outside of this zip code will be marked 3rd Party.
Uploading Carrier Rates
1. When you are in your carrier settings, Select “Download Truck Load Template” on bottom right.
- If you do not upload rates you will not automatically get rates during the quoting process, but the carrier can still be added and used for SPOT QUOTING (see the quoting guide).
*Note* You should add contacts for each of the contact types, so the system knows who to send these emails to
2. Fill out the necessary templates.
- Three excel sheets will download. One is the template to upload the truckload rates. The second one is to upload the Fuel Surcharges schedule and the last one if to upload the accessorial charges that may apply. All three sheets must be uploaded to get rates properly. If there is no fuel surcharge or accessorial, they can be uploaded with zeros.
