The Address Validation section can be accessed via the Company → Rules → Address Validation tab.

Address validation is currently available in the US, Puerto Rico, Canada, and Mexico. FreightPOP utilizes the UPS Address Validation (Street Level) API to verify street addresses, cities, states, and ZIP codes, relying on USPS as the authoritative source. For international addresses, including Canada and Mexico, FedEx Address Validation is used; however, FedEx may encounter issues with countries using three-character state codes, resulting in circular error messages. By default, address validation is a manual process and is not supported for batch shipments.

  • Address Validation Type: Address or Residential Check must be enabled to use the additional configuration. Ship To or Ship From must also be enabled to have the option to determine the pages the validation runs on.

  • Validation of Plus-Four Codes within the ZIP Code: When this is checked off, and the validation runs, if the user did not have the extra four digits, it will not add them. The validation only works if the user adds the four digits, then it validates them and does not drop them off.

  • Batch Processing on Orders: When this is toggled on, address validation will run against orders that are batch shipped from the Orders page, and validate per what the user has toggled on for Address Validation Type.

  • Auto Accept Residential Check: This is a sub-toggle that can be enabled for Batch Processing on Orders. When on, for any addresses that the address validator deems as Residential, when batch shipping, the system will auto-accept that change and continue to process the shipment without user intervention.

If Enable Address Validation is turned on, and Residential Check is turned on the Address Validation Type card, then the system will automatically enable Auto Apply Residential Accessorials on the General Rules page and turn on Residential Delivery.
