Quote/Ship

To add a Drayage shipment via Quote/Ship, build the shipment as usual, ensuring the package type is an Ocean Container, such as OCEAN 40FT HC CON.

Processing the shipment at the Drayage service level is required for it to appear in the Container Drayage tab.

Once processed, the shipment will appear in the Container Drayage tab on the Tracking page.

If a pickup is scheduled, carriers will start receiving requests for tracking updates every 24 hours. Drayage carriers can also use the Carrier Portal to add tracking updates for open shipments.

Tracking a Container

The Current Status and Tracking Comments fields provide the most recent container update based on the latest tracking service run. Tracking updates are automatically requested from API/EDI-integrated carriers every 12 hours, increasing to every 4 hours as the delivery date approaches. The Last Modified Date column displays the most recent tracking request.

For real-time updates, clicking the tracking number in either the grid or Calendar views triggers a manual refresh, displaying the full tracking history from shipment creation to delivery. These updates mirror the information available on the carrier’s website.

After clicking the tracking number, the grid updates with the latest tracking details or comments. To reflect these changes, a page refresh may be required.

The map and milestone sections can be expanded or collapsed, similar to the details section. Currently, the map displays the origin and destination points connected by a line, with separate markers for the origin and destination port codes. Future enhancements will include real-time progress markers as the shipment moves through its journey.

Next to the map, a shipment milestone list outlines key stages for international shipments, which remain consistent across all shipments: Created, Booked, Picked Up, Arrived at Origin Port, Departed from Origin Port, Arrived at Destination Port, Departed from Destination Port, and Arrived at Final Destination. The milestone icons match those used in the tracking grid status movement. Until actual dates are received from the carrier, estimated arrival times (ETAs) are displayed. Once confirmed, milestones update from grey to blue.

If a carrier provides a status but not a date for a milestone, the system will recognize the milestone as completed and display the date when the status was received. If a milestone is missing a date or status but the next sequential milestone is received (e.g., skipping from Booked to Delivered), the system will automatically mark the skipped milestone as met upon receiving the next update.

For containers and international moves, milestones apply to the container itself and may span multiple shipments depending on the movement type. If multiple shipments are involved, the milestones remain consistent across all, even if one shipment is specific to the drayage portion.

The following fields are unique to Drayage Tracking and only appear on this tab:

  • Ocean SSL (Ocean Ship Steam Line)

  • Destination Port Of Landing

  • Container Pickup Terminal

  • Container Available Date

  • Terminal Last Free Date

  • Container Delivered Date (the date the container was delivered to the customer warehouse)

  • Container Port Pickup Date

  • Container Due Back Status

  • Container Due Back Date

  • Container Picked Up Back Date

  • Container Return Terminal

  • Container Back Delivered Date

Updating Individual Container Information

Select the pencil icon in the grid next to the Drayage shipment to update container details. This will open a pop-up window where container numbers can be viewed or edited at the top of the screen.

After selecting the option to view or edit containers, a window will display the current Container IDs. Updates can be made within the Container Numbers accordion dropdown, and changes will be applied after clicking Save at the bottom of the screen.

To add tracking information, each container number has a dedicated accordion dropdown for entering details. Once the necessary updates are made, selecting Save will update the tracking grid accordingly.

Additional Considerations

  • Transactions will appear in the Container Drayage Tracking tab only if they include a Drayage service and a package type that contains "Ocean.”

  • Each container within a shipment is listed as a separate line item.

  • Drayage shipments that remain undelivered for more than 60 days will be removed from the report.

  • Both users and carriers can update shipment tracking, including individual container tracking, since containers within the same shipment may be transported at different times.

  • Unlike the In Transit tab, containers will only be removed from the Drayage Container Tracking tab once the Container Back Delivered Date is recorded.

  • Shipments can be removed from the grid individually or in bulk, but this action only removes them from the active grid; they will still be accessible in shipment history.
