Multi Rate Shop, a new feature within FreightPOP that allows users to rate parcel and LTLs within the same shipment, presents users with the most cost-effective shipping option by comparing packaging and carrier methods. It must be enabled in conjunction with Volume Calculation using either the New or Volume Efficient methods.

When Rate Shopping, the system not only quotes the current auto-calculated shipment details, but also runs an alternative packaging scenario in the background and displays both results in the Rate Shop grid.

For example:

  • If shipment details are pallets, the system also quotes the inner boxes/cartons as loose packages using Parcel carriers.

  • If shipment details are boxes, the system attempts to palletize those boxes using LTL or FTL carriers.

Both sets of rates appear in the grid. If a user selects an alternate rate, they are prompted to confirm the updated shipment details before proceeding.

Where Can I Use Multi Rate Shop?

Multi Rate Shop is available in:

  • The standard FreightPOP app

  • The FreightPOP app for NetSuite (SuiteApps)

To use Multi Rate Shop, the company must first be set up with Volume Calculation.

  • New Volume Calculation

  • Volume Efficient Volume Calculation

You must also create predefined packages (both boxes and pallets) with the "Use in Volume Calculation" setting enabled.

To enable Multi Rate Shop:

Shipment Setup Options

To trigger Multi Rate Shop:

  • Use Auto Calculate Shipment Details (Volume Calc must be New or Volume Efficient)

  • Shipment details must be:

    • Boxes only, or

    • Pallets only (with inner pieces that include dimensions and weight)

While Volume Calculation must be enabled, you can still start the Rate Shop process without running it first, as long as your shipment structure matches one of the two configurations above.

Rate Shop Workflow

  1. Once shipment details are populated, set the carrier to Rate Shop.

  2. Click the Rate Shop button in the footer.

  3. The system returns both loose box and palletized rates.

Rate options are indicated by the color of the Ship It button (truck icon):

  • Blue truck: Use the original shipment method. Clicking processes the shipment immediately.

  • Orange truck: Use the alternate method (palletized vs. boxed). Clicking opens a confirmation modal.
