FedEx ETD (Electronic Trade Documents) is a service that enables shippers to submit customs documentation electronically, eliminating the need to print and attach them to shipments. This simplifies the international shipping process by reducing paperwork and lowering the risk of lost or incomplete documents.
To use FedEx ETD (Electronic Trade Documents), you will need to have FreightPOP enable this feature by contacting FedEx Web Services. Inform them that you want ETD and image uploading activated.
Prepare the following details for the FedEx team:
Meter Number
Account Number
Address listed in your FedEx account
Next, go to the carrier credential window for each account and select the ETD option. You will be required to upload a mandatory Header Logo and an optional Electronic Signature.
If ETD is enabled but the logo and header are not uploaded, you will encounter an error during shipping:
ERROR: The COMMERCIAL_INVOICE requires an electronic LETTER_HEAD.
Once the signature and logo are uploaded, ETD will start printing on the FedEx labels. The maximum image size is 700 pixels wide by 50 pixels tall.
See a sample after you upload and process a shipment.
Note: The invoice will only print if the destination country does not accept ETD. If the destination country accepts ETD, the invoice will not automatically print, as it will be sent electronically to FedEx.
