The Dispatching tab/feature simplifies and automates order fulfillment by transforming orders into shipments, processing them, and tendering them to carriers. It enhances efficiency by automating key stages of the shipping workflow, enabling a more streamlined and hands-off logistics operation.

Dispatching can be accessed via the Company Rules Dispatching tab.

Auto dispatch is ideal for:

  • High-volume shippers processing multiple orders daily

  • E-commerce businesses handling frequent customer orders

  • Retailers managing relationships with multiple suppliers

  • Warehouses and fulfillment centers dealing with bulk shipments

  • Manufacturers processing large-scale or recurring orders

  • Logistics teams aiming to reduce manual errors and optimize workflows

  • Operations managers focused on efficient and accurate shipment creation

  • Supply chain managers needing automated dispatching of Inbound Transactions

  • Businesses with carrier partnerships that require timely pickup scheduling and reduced manual coordination

Outbound Transactions Auto Dispatch

This automates the entire dispatch workflow by converting orders into shipments, then processing and tendering those shipments to carriers—minimizing manual effort and streamlining fulfillment.

  • Auto-Convert Outbound Transactions to Shipments: Automatically converts orders into shipments and saves them as such. These shipments will not be processed or tendered until a later step.

  • Required Shipment Details: When enabled, only orders that include shipment details—such as quantity, package type, dimensions, and weight—will be converted into shipments. Orders missing any of these details will be skipped.

  • All Open Orders: When selected, the system will attempt to create shipments for all open orders that meet the defined criteria. The Required Ship Date and Required Arrival Date checkboxes will be disabled in this mode.

  • Required Ship Date

  • Required Arrival Date

  • Based on Chosen Field Value: If this option is chosen, the system will not allow the user to check off All Open Orders, Required Ship Date, or the Required Arrival Date, and the system will look through all open orders for the field selected for the set values and turn them into Saved Shipments if a match is found.

Available field types:

  • User Defined Field 1-3 (Additional Details)

  • Reference 1-6

  • Order Type (Ship From form)

Field Values can be defined by the user. Auto dispatching will only run if an exact match is found.

Auto Process Shipments

This automatically processes or tenders saved shipments that are not older than 10 days.

  • Auto-Schedule Pickups: Sends pickup requests to carriers for processed shipments using today’s date and the ready time provided on the shipment. If no ready time is specified, the system defaults to 8 AM–5 PM. If this is not enabled, shipments will be processed but may not trigger a pickup request. For user-defined carriers, a missing pickup contact can cause shipment failures until resolved.

  • Process All Saved Shipments Daily: Attempts to process or tender all saved shipments that are less than 10 days old on a daily basis.

  • Required Ship Date: Processes or tenders any saved shipment with a Required Ship Date of today or earlier.

  • Required Arrival Date:

Inbound Transactions Auto Dispatch

This automates the end-to-end process of converting orders into shipments, then processing and tendering those shipments to carriers—streamlining fulfillment and reducing manual effort.

  • Auto-Convert Inbound Transactions to Shipments: Automatically converts Inbound Transactions into shipments and saves them. These shipments will not be processed or tendered until a later step.

  • Required Shipment Details: When enabled, only Inbound Transactions that include complete shipment details—Quantity, Package Type, Dimensions, and Weight—will be converted into shipments. Any orders missing these fields will be skipped.

  • All Open Orders: When selected, the system will attempt to create shipments for all open Inbound Transactions that meet the defined criteria. The Required Ship Date and Required Arrival Date options will be disabled in this mode.

  • Required Ship Date: Creates shipments only for Inbound Transactions with a Required Ship Date of today or earlier. Orders with future ship dates will not be processed.

Order Management

When Auto Dispatch is enabled under Company Rules Dispatching Enable Auto Dispatch, the Auto Dispatch button will appear on both the Outbound Transactions and Inbound Transactions tabs within Order Management.

Auto Dispatch Ocean Drayage

FreightPOP allows you to automatically create and process drayage legs for ocean shipments, reducing manual work when handling multi-leg shipments (e.g., Port/Door → Port → Warehouse).

With this feature, you can configure rules that automatically create and dispatch the second drayage leg, ensuring smoother operations and fewer missed steps.

The service runs 3 times daily.

Where to Configure

  1. Go to Company → Rules → Dispatching

  2. Locate the new card: Auto Create and Process Ocean Drayage

⚠️ This card requires Enable Auto Dispatch to be toggled ON before any of its settings can be enabled.
By default, all toggles on this card are OFF.

⚠️ This feature requires Enable Multi-leg Shipping to be toggled ON before any of its settings can be enabled.
This can be enable on Company → Company Details → Settings → Options card → Enable Multi-leg Shipping

Main Toggle

  • Auto Create and Process Ocean Drayage
    When ON, FreightPOP will:

    • Review ocean shipments processed in the last 60 days that are not yet Delivered

    • Verify that they only have 1 leg (no existing Movement Id)

    • Confirm the Movement Type = Port/Door → Port

    • Confirm the Destination Ocean Port Code is populated

If all criteria are met, FreightPOP will automatically create a 2nd leg for Drayage.

Sub-Toggles (Choose One)

Only one option can be enabled at a time.
You must select one if the main toggle is ON.

  1. Right Away

    • As soon as the auto-dispatching service runs, the drayage leg is created.

  2. Within 5 Days of Updated ETA of 1st Leg

    • The system checks ETA of leg 1.

    • If ETA ≤ 5 days from today, the drayage leg is created.

Auto Schedule Pickups

  • Available only when Auto Create and Process Ocean Drayage is ON.

  • When enabled:

    • Pickup date of leg 2 = Updated ETA of leg 1

    • Open/Close times: pulled from the ship-to address.

      • If missing, defaults to 8 AM – 5 PM

Drayage Carrier Assigning Logic

Once Auto Create and Process Ocean Drayage is ON, a new section appears:

Assign Per:

  • Ship To Country OR Destination Ocean Port Code (only one can be active)

Option 1: Per Ship To Country

  • Fields:

    • Country (multi-select, searchable)

    • Carrier

    • Service (single select, filtered by carrier)

  • Rules:

    • At least one country, carrier, and service must be selected to save.

    • First line cannot be deleted unless a second line exists.

    • Trashcan icon grayed out when only one line remains.

    • Add Item = create additional country-based rules.

Option 2: Per Destination Ocean Port Code

  • Fields:

    • Port Code (searchable, single select)

    • Carrier

    • Service (single select, filtered by carrier)

  • Rules:

    • At least one port code, carrier, and service must be selected to save.

    • First line cannot be deleted unless a second line exists.

    • Trashcan icon grayed out when only one line remains.

    • Add Item = create additional port-based rules.

Example Use Case

  • You create an ocean shipment: Port of LA → Long Beach Port.

  • ETA is 3 days away.

  • You’ve configured:

    • Auto Create and Process Ocean Drayage = ON

    • “Within 5 Days of Updated ETA” = ON

    • Auto Schedule Pickups = ON

    • Assign Per = Destination Ocean Port Code (LGB → Carrier XYZ)

Result: FreightPOP automatically creates the drayage leg, assigns Carrier XYZ, and schedules pickup on ETA date with default warehouse hours if not provided.
