FreightPOP VPN Connector Installation Guide

This guide walks you through the installation of the FreightPOP VPN Connector (Windows Service). The connector enables secure communication between your FreightPOP account and your internal database.


Step 1: Download the VPN Connector Installer
Before saving your new connection, you’ll need to install the FreightPOP Windows Service, which establishes a secure connection between FreightPOP and your local environment.

1. In the ADD NEW CONNECTION window, click DOWNLOAD at the top right.

2. The FreightPOP Connector Installer (.msi) will begin downloading automatically.

3. If the download does not start, check that your browser is not blocking pop-ups:
- Add `app.freightpop.com` to your browser’s pop-up exceptions.
    - Refresh the page and try again.


Step 2: Bypass the Windows Security Prompt (if shown)

When running the downloaded `.msi` file, Windows Defender SmartScreen may display a security warning.

1. If you see a message stating “Windows protected your PC”, click More Info.

2. Then select Run Anyway to proceed with the installation.

If you do not see this message, continue to the next step.


Step 3: Start the Installation Wizard

1. Double-click the downloaded `.msi` file to begin installation.

2. When prompted, click Next to proceed through the setup screens.

3. Accept all default settings unless otherwise instructed by your IT administrator.


Step 4: Enter Your FreightPOP Client Secret Key

During installation, you’ll be asked to provide your Client Secret Key.

1. Copy the Client Secret generated in Step 3 of the integration setup.

2. Paste it into the Client Secret Key field in the installer.

3. Click Next to continue.


Step 5: Finish the Installation Process

1. Click Next once more to begin installation.

2. When the process is completed, select Close to exit the installer.


Step 6: Verify and Save Your Connection

1. Return to your FreightPOP browser window with the Integration page open.

2. Click Save to finalize your connection.

3. You should now see your new connection appear under Registered Connections in the top-right section of the page.

4. The connection status should display as Connected.

Your FreightPOP VPN Connector has been successfully installed and configured.
