FedEx now requires multi-factor authentication (MFA) for carrier validation. This guide walks you through how to migrate your existing FedEx integration in FreightPOP in just a few minutes—without interrupting your shipping operations.

Note: These steps will need to be completed for each connected FedEx account.

Dangerous Goods / Hazmat shippers: If you ship Dangerous Goods or Hazmat via FedEx, do not migrate at this time. FedEx has not yet finalized the Dangerous Goods API on their new REST endpoints. We will notify you separately once that is available and migration is cleared for your account.

Before You Start

Make sure you have the following ready:

Required

  • FedEx account number

  • Billing address exactly as it appears on your FedEx account

And one of the following

  • Access to the phone or email on file with FedEx

  • A FedEx invoice from the past 90 days

Step 1: Start the Migration in Carrier Management

In FreightPOP:

  1. Go to Carrier Management

  2. Locate your existing FedEx carrier

  3. Click Migrate to New Integration

  4. In the confirmation dialog, click Confirm

This process updates your service configurations and historical data and may take a few moments.

Step 2: Launch the New Authentication Flow

On the Add Carrier: FedEx Parcel New screen:

  • Click Validate with FedEx MFA (top-right of the Credentials section)

This replaces the old authentication method (Client ID, Secret, username, password) with the new MFA flow.

Step 3: Review and Accept the FedEx EULA

You will be prompted to review the FedEx End User License Agreement.

  • Check the agreement box

  • Click Accept the Terms of FedEx EULA to Start Shipping

The accept button will remain disabled until the checkbox is selected.

Step 4: Enter Your Account Number and Billing Address

You’ll now complete Factor 1: Account & Address Validation.

  • Enter your FedEx account number

  • Enter your billing address exactly as FedEx has it on file

  • Click Validate & Continue

Important:
The address must match perfectly—including abbreviations, punctuation, and suite numbers—or validation will fail.

Step 5: Choose Your Second Validation Method

Once your address is validated, select how you want to complete MFA:

  • PIN (via SMS, phone call, or email)

  • Invoice (using a FedEx invoice from the last 90 days)

Step 6A: Complete PIN Validation (Option 1)

If you selected PIN:

  1. Choose delivery method:

    • SMS

    • Call

    • Email

  2. Click Send PIN

  3. Enter the 6-digit code received

  4. Click Validate PIN

Step 6B: Complete Invoice Validation (Option 2)

If you selected Invoice:

  1. Enter:

    • Invoice number

    • Invoice date

    • Invoice amount

  2. Click Validate Invoice

This replaces the PIN step entirely.

Step 7: Confirm and Finish

Once validation is successful:

  • You’ll see a Registration Successful screen

  • Click Finish
