Viewing Docks & Using Filters
Filters
A location is required, and only one can be viewed at a time
Docks gives users the ability to determine how many docks for that location they want to view
Filters applies to both appointments and unscheduled shipments
Users can decide if they want to view items on a day basis, seeing each dock individually. At a week basis, or a month basis
Adding Appointments
Users can have shipments automatically come in to unscheduled shipments once they have been configured in the general settings portion
In addition, users can manually add appointments, or import them in bulk
Import
The template can be downloaded directly from FP analytics (screenshot pending)
Once a file has been selected for import, users can preview the document to make any changes from the validation that runs
The file can have shipments with shipment details, shipments with no shipment details, and with or without appointment
Imports shipments only validation
When importing only shipments, we check if a carrier with the given SCAC or Name exists in Dock Scheduling DB, if the carrier doesn’t exist, we display an error message
Required fields from the template are:
Shipment Id (can be any, but should be populated, so we can match the items)
Address Fields: Street1, City, State, Zip, Country (for both Ship From and Ship To) with an exact match to location in settings (for inbound/outbound/transfers)
Carrier
Imports Appointments with Shipments Linked
There is validation that runs to ensure that
Carrier exists within dock scheduling AND that the carrier is added to the location
If either one of those do not pass then an error will displays when importing.
Shipment from Row () has a carrier that does not exist for the location it is being added to. Please go to settings-> locations and add the carrier to the location and re-upload.
When creating a new appointment the system will see if there is an appointment already at that same time, or overlapping times at that dock. If they do not have allow overlap enabled, then the following message appears.
This dock does not allow overlapping appointments. Please select a new time and save again.
If they do have allow overlap enabled, then allow it will be added as normal.

Unscheduled shipments
This list gets populated based on the location that is selected from the top. If there are carriers that the location does not have access to, it will not show up.
The card will list the carrier and carrier nickname, the direction, the ship from, and the ship to
Direction

If ship to AND ship from = locations on the account → Transfer
Users can click into these shipments and update the information, as well as delete the shipment individually or in bulk.

Connection to TMS
If your account uses Dock Scheduling, you can now choose a specific dock and equipment directly in the TMS and automatically create a dock appointment when you book a shipment.
This gives you the highest level of automation for pickup scheduling and helps ensure freight is routed to the right door, at the right time, with the right equipment.
Where You’ll See Dock & Equipment
When Dock Scheduling is enabled, you’ll see two new dropdowns in the Pickup section:
Dock
Equipment (disabled until a dock is selected)
Placement:
On Order Management / Quote/Ship / External Shipments:
– In the Pickup section, below the existing info but above the Pickup Message. On Shipment Details:
– Below the Driver In/Out fields in the Pickup Request section.A new read-only field Dock Appointment ID appears under Pickup Request, below Driver In/Out, when an appointment is created.
Dock & Equipment Dropdowns
Dock Dropdown
Label: Dock
Behavior:
Options are dynamic, based on:
Dock availability for the selected pickup date/time window
Which carriers are allowed at each dock
Info icon tooltip:
“Dock options will adjust dynamically based on availability and carrier selection. This is not needed if recurring appointments are setup for this carrier.”
Equipment Dropdown
Label: Equipment
Behavior:
Disabled until a Dock is selected
Once a Dock is selected, Equipment options are populated based on what’s supported at that dock
Info icon tooltip:
“Equipment options will adjust dynamically based on Dock selected.”
How Auto-Scheduling Works
FreightPOP will automatically try to schedule a dock appointment in Dock Scheduling when you select a dock and equipment.
There are three main usage patterns:
Select Dock & Equipment before picking a carrier (pre-booking)
Select Dock & Equipment after the shipment is booked
Select Dock & Equipment for a Direct Ship carrier
In all cases, FreightPOP validates:
Whether the carrier is allowed at that dock
Whether the dock has an available time slot matching your Pickup Date, Ready Time, and Cutoff, or an acceptable overlapping slot
If a valid slot is found, FreightPOP creates the dock appointment and stores the Dock Appointment ID on the shipment.
If not, the shipment can still proceed (in most cases), but no appointment is created, and you’ll see a clear warning.
Dock Appointment ID Field
A read-only field labeled Dock Appointment ID, shown under Pickup Request, below Driver In/Out.
Behavior
If Dock Scheduling is enabled:
The field is displayed on relevant pages (Quote/Ship, Shipment Details, etc.).
When an appointment is successfully scheduled in Dock Scheduling:
The field is populated with the Dock Scheduling appointment ID.
If the appointment is modified externally (via Dock Scheduling portal, email link, or other DS workflow):
The Dock Appointment ID (and related Dock/Equipment fields) are kept in sync with the latest appointment.
If no appointment exists yet:
The Dock Appointment ID field remains blank.
Automation Priority
When you manually select a Dock and Equipment:
That selection is considered the highest level of automation for that shipment’s dock scheduling.
It overrides any default or recurring appointment automations that would otherwise run for that shipment.
In other words, manual Dock + Equipment choice wins over background automation.
