The system supports Single Sign-On (SSO) using OpenID Connect (OIDC). This allows your team to log in using your company’s identity provider instead of managing separate passwords in FreightPOP.

Supported Providers

  • OIDC-based providers

    • Common examples: Okta, Microsoft

  • SAML is not currently supported

Login Type Options

Your company’s Login Type setting controls how users sign in. This is configured at the company level (Settings → Company-> Company Details → Settings)

1. FreightPOP Login (Default)

  • Users log in with a FreightPOP email and password.

  • Passwords are managed within FreightPOP via User Manager.

2. FreightPOP Login and SSO

  • Users can log in using either:

    • Standard FreightPOP email/password, or

    • The SSO login button.

  • Recommended if you need flexibility or use integrations that require a password.

3. SSO Only

  • Users must log in using the OIDC SSO button.

  • Standard email/password login is disabled.

Important:
Even when using SSO, each user must have an active FreightPOP user account with a matching email address.

How to Configure your SSO Provider

  1. After selecting SSO or FreightPOP Login and SSO, the field below it select OIDC from the SSO Type.

    1. Note: Even if you use Microsoft SSO select the OIDC connection type, the Microsoft SSO option has been absorbed by the OIDC one and will be removed shortly.

  2. Configure your OIDC settings with information from your identity provider

    Once it is setup, when logging in click the OIDC Login. From there you will be redirected to your identity provider to authenticate, and then redirected back to the system and will be logged in.

What Changes When SSO Only Is Enabled

When your company is set to SSO Only:

  • Password fields are disabled when creating or editing users.

  • “Reset Password” and “Forgot Password” options are disabled.

  • Users must authenticate through your identity provider.

Printer Connector Requirement

The FreightPOP Printer Connector requires a password to authenticate.

If your company is using SSO Only, follow this process:

  1. Temporarily switch the Login Type to:

    • FreightPOP Login and SSO

  2. Set a password for the user.

  3. Save the user.

  4. Switch the Login Type back to SSO Only.

The password will remain stored and can be used by the Printer Connector, even though users will continue logging in through SSO.
