What are Custom Field Groups?
Custom Field Groups are user defined groups made up of both user defined (UDFs) and clones of Standard fields. Currently, Custom Field Groups- when created- can be present within an item in the Product Catalog and also within a Product Details line item on Quote/ship, Orders, and Shipment Details, as well as on the Additional Details tab on Quote/ship, Orders, and Shipment Details pages.

Editing the Group - Custom Fields Card
Any number of fields can be added to a group.
Field Types:
Free Text - Enter any text, numbers.
Dropdown - Create a selectable list of options.
Number - Input whole numbers only. No decimals.
Decimal - Input numbers with decimal. User defines max digits after decimal point.
Date - Pick a date from a date picker.
Standard Field - Standard fields are pulled from the system and automatically validated. Users can add them to custom groups, but they cannot be edited or renamed.
Standard fields are only available for Custom Field Groups created for Product Catalog/Product Details (not for Additional Details groups).
Standard fields within a group are essentially copies of the actual Standard field. For example, if Weight is populated for a line item and a Custom Field Group includes Weight as a Standard field, the system automatically maps the value from the actual Standard field to the field within the group. This works in reverse as well—if the actual Standard field is not populated but the field within the group is, the system maps the entered value back to the actual Standard field. If a Standard field appears in multiple groups, changes are reflected across all of them.
For each of these fields, the following can be defined:
Field Name - Name of the field
Tooltip - Optional - When text is entered, a tooltip icon will appear next to the field on the pages the group is added to. When hovered over, the text entered will appear in a small box.
Character Limit - Optional - Set a max for input length. 200 characters is the max
